THE INVISIBLE MAN
In this tale of psychological fearfulness, a mysterious stranger arrives one night out of a snowstorm to a small town where he begins his reign of terror.  It turns out that he’s a scientist who has invented a way to render himself invisible.  The problem is that he’s also quite insane.   Now he can go anywhere, menace, or kill, anyone who stands in his way.  Humanity is not safe as long as the Invisible Man may be watching.  But, who can stop him?

Today, our own “invisible” government gains more access to our daily lives, with its watchful cameras recording our every move for our own benefit and security, causing a certain sense of well being in some and outright paranoia in others.    Wells had seen enough of his own country’s growing concern to dominate its people through a doctrine based on fear, that, a century ago, he began to forecast to where it might lead us one day.  The Invisible Man is Big Brother.

THE WAR OF THE WORLDS
1934. Suddenly, without warning, our homeland is attacked and invaded by an unknown enemy.  The country, the whole Earth, is thrown into chaos as our attempts to defend ourselves fail miserably against these pitiless aggressors from another world, whose weapons of mass destruction far exceed our own technology.  One man relives his personal struggle to stay alive while searching for his wife amidst the systematic extinction of mankind.  When faced with death, his humanity and moral boundaries come into question…given the circumstances, should he survive, at any cost?

Most New Yorkers who were here during the 9/11 attacks and its aftermath will surely feel sympathy for Wells’ ordinary man who is thrown into personal chaos while his familiar world disappears overnight under fiery attack.   The unknown…not knowing why or who is doing this to our country…to mankind…only brings more fear.

.HERBERT GEORGE WELLS…1866–1946, English author born into the working class... Wells is best remembered as The Grand Master of modern Science Fiction, having created many seminal works that have influenced countless writers, artists, filmmakers and political thinkers since their publica- tions, some of which have never gone out of print...Wells was also an imaginative social thinker, working assiduously to remove all vestiges of Victorian social, moral, and religious attitudes from 20th-century life.  (MORE)

THE TIME MACHINE
In the year 1911, a scientist gathers his friends to tell them an unbelievable tale…he has built a fantastic machine that has enabled him to travel thousands of years into the future from which he has just returned.  At first, the future world appears to be one of peace and harmony peopled by a strange race of pale, docile humans who regard him as a humorous oddity.  Eventually, he becomes bored with them, but, soon learns their reason for existence when he discovers another race of barbarous, depraved beings … cannibals …living beneath the Earth‘s surface.   However shocked he may be, he cannot escape…they’ve stolen and hidden his time machine.

Today’s society becomes more and more aimed toward achieving, not an upper class, but, a leisure class, in which, of course, anyone can participate as long as they can afford to do so.   Our world is now fatter than it ever was…and at the same time, there is more poverty, genocide and mass death from disease and famine than ever before.  In America, there is another class growing in leaps and bounds…the immigrants who are being shoved aside and basically ignored.  Soon they will outnumber those who are in charge.  Wells predicted that, as these two classes move farther from each other, eventually, the stronger will dominate the weaker.

THE ISLAND OF DR.MOREAU
On an idyllic South Seas island, a shipwrecked survivor discovers Dr.Moreau, an eccentric geneticist whose weird experiments have produced a tribe of mutants…part-man, part-animal…who worship their maker or face the “house of pain.” Ultimately, the garden of paradise turns into Hell itself when Moreau’s nightmarish creations learn that he as mortal as them and they rebel violently against their god.

On March 2,2007, Britain announced that it will now allow scientists to create part human/part animal embryos, for potentially life saving medical treatment.  The embryos, or human “cybrids,” will be around 99% human and 1% rabbit, cow, pig, sheep or goat.   Enough said.
